But a lot of time passes between Dorothy's return to Oz and Amy Gumm's first journey there. Reading NO PLACE LIKE OZ, I can see how Dorothy slowly became corrupted over time. Dorothy, evil? Her faithful, lovable companions evil? They all need to be killed? No, not possible. When I first heard about DOROTHY MUST DIE, I was taken back. Princess Ozma must have had something to do with it.and Dorothy is determined to find out and expose the princess. ![]() Especially since Glinda the Good is missing. Dorothy knows there's something off about her, though. The Scarecrow no longer has his throne, usurped by Princess Ozma, who claims to be Oz's true ruler. But even Oz has changed in the time she's been gone. When she has the chance to go back to Oz, she takes it.and accidentally brings her Aunt and Uncle along for the ride. Dorothy has seen the majesty of Oz, and she can't fathom living in Kansas for the rest of her life. Once you've been away and lived elsewhere, nothing is ever the same again. ![]() The first line of the novella is "They say you can't go home again," and that's true. What happened after Dorothy returned to Kansas? After all, all she ever wanted was to go home. NO PLACE LIKE OZ is a full story that stands on its own. ![]()
